Wojciech Smarzowski
Film and theatre director, screenwriter and cinematographer. Born 1963 in Korczyn. The Knight of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He became popular thanks to his drastic film spectacles such as: The Wedding (2004), The Dark House (2009), Rose (2011) and Hatred (2016) in which he would pinpoint the vices of the Polish provinces and historical Polish relations with the Masurians (Rose) and with the Ukrainians (Hatred). Multiple-time winner of the Eagle awards for Best Directing (2005, 2010, 2012, 2017), receiver of the FIPRESCI award for Clergy (2018) at the 2019 Tansilvania IFF Cluj-Napoca.
