Escape from the ‘Liberty’ Cinema

dir.

Wojciech Marczewski

1990, 1 h 27 min

At the ‘Liberty’ Cinema, during the screening of The Dawn, the actors on the screen come to life and start talking to the audience. The authorities are helpless in this situation. The censor, a former literary critic, arrives. The line between fiction and reality blurs. The man talks to Małgorzata, who reminds him of his former values and makes him realize that the role of the censor enslaves him. Decision makers want to destroy the copy of The Dawn, but the censor enters the film to stop them. He meets the characters he once censored and undergoes a spiritual transformation.
