Become 1 of 50 – applications open for the “50 for 51” project

You can never have too many Polish films! Following the success of last year’s anniversary project, “50 for 50” of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, we have decided to continue this nationwide celebration of Polish cinema. We invite institutions and organizations from across Poland to join the “50 for 51” project. This time, we would like to celebrate filmmakers, important films, groundbreaking events in Polish cinema, and stories that may or may not be related to the Polish Film Festival itself. We are waiting for your proposals for screenings until March 27, 2026.

– Importantly, we want the project to be accessible to the widest possible audience. Thanks to our collaboration with the Accessible Cinema Foundation, we will provide our partners with an up-to-date list of films with audio description. Audio description tracks will be made available through the Accessible Cinema Foundation’s dedicated app – said Agata Kozierańska-Burda, Director of the Polish Film Festival.

– Last year, the “50 for 50” review was part of our anniversary program, but Polish cinema doesn’t need special occasions for us to share and enjoy it. That’s why this year I’m inviting everyone from all over Poland to participate in the next edition of this project entitled “50 for 51.” I’m sure there’s a fascinating journey ahead of us – films, meetings, stories, a unique opportunity to see ourselves reflected in them, and perhaps learn something about ourselves – added Artistic Director of the Polish Film Festival.

The “50 for 51” events will take place from April 2026 to the end of February 2027.
