The Grand Finale of the Contest on Knowledge of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia
On 7th September 2025 (Sunday) the Grand Finale of the Contest on Knowledge of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia will take place at the Gdynia Film Centre. First, finalists will take part in a multimedia test, after which the 10 participants with the highest scores will advance to the Final.
We have scheduled the Final of the Contest for 7th September. This date is not accidental – it was on 7th September 1974 that the very first edition of the Festival started. In this way, history will come full circle, and with a solid dose of knowledge about it, we shall begin the next chapter – comments Jaonna Łapińska, Artistic Director of the Polish Film Festival.
In the Final, the 10 participants will answer questions prepared by the experts: Joanna Łapczyńska, Anna Wróblewska and Marlena Gracz.
Laureates will receive highly coveted awards: for 1st place – two full accreditations for the 50th Polish Film Festival, two invitations to the awards ceremony and the closing banquet, as well as the opportunity to hand the award during the Young Gala of the 50th Polish Film Festival; for 2nd place – two full accreditations for the 50th Polish Film Festival; for 3rd place – two 10-point accreditations for the 50th Polish Film Festival. In addition, Dr Irena Eris, partner of the final of the contest, has prepared gifts for the finalists.
In the contest questions we will journey across the decades, recalling significant moments, high-profile and surprising verdicts, festival twists, and, most of all, films. We will also bring to mind people connected with the event: both filmmakers whose works were first presented in Gdańsk and now in Gdynia, and those who stand behind the organisation of the Festival – adds Jaonna Łapińska.
The screening of the film Day of the Wacko, directed by Marek Koterski – favourite Golden Lions winner according to the Filmweb users – is also planned.
The 50th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia will take place from 22nd to 27th September 2025. The Festival is produced by the Pomeranian Film Foundation in Gdynia. The Contest on Knowledge of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia is held under the sponsorship of the Marshal of the Pomerania Voivodship and the Mayor of Gdynia.
