2011, 0 h 51 minWhat did kids use to play with in the times of real socialism? With toys
brought from abroad, counterfeit Western toys made by Polish craftsmen,
objects handmade by the kids or their family. A comb and a few coins, a
piece of elastic, metal caps, and last but not least, the carpet
beating rack as a social spot and place of initiation. The Polish
children of the communist era used sticks and wire to learn how to be
independent and think for themselves. The documentary includes childhood
memories shared by Andrzej Dudziński (the creator of Dudi, the famous
cartoon superbird popular in the ‘70s and ‘80s), Tomasz Jastrun, Dorota
Masłowska, Wojciech Pszoniak, Lech Wałęsa, Henryk Wujec.
