Office for Monument Construction
Karolina Breguła
2016, 1 h 10 minA sixty-year-old working at a bus station selling tickets neglects her job and private life due to her complete devotion to an unusual passion: collecting teeth. Detached from her own place and devoid of roots, she’s obsessively engaged in creating a collection which gradually becomes an ingenious set of objects. Although intuitive, the rules of archiving devised by the woman seem almost identical to the methodology applied by museum experts.
The places where the protagonist works are modernistic giants, abandoned by the users they’d been built for, going through a transformation of identity, like the protagonist is. “Office for Monument Construction” is an inscription on a plate on the door leading to a room of the former office, which now serves as a storeroom for the collection.
