Silver
Without this metal, modern technology wouldn’t exist today. Since colonial times, millions of people have died in the silver mines of Potosí, Bolivia. In the 21st century, deadly working conditions persist, with international corporations reaping the profits. For the inhabitants of this region, including children, the mines are their whole lives. The documentary presents their everyday reality, both underground and on the surface, without embellishment. It allows us to enter a world where survival depends on the precious metal mined with sweat and toil. The exploitation of people – brought out of darkness and oblivion for a moment – goes hand in hand with the exploitation of resources.
