50 for 51 – the nationwide celebration of Polish cinema is underway!

Following the success of last year’s anniversary 50 for 50 at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival, we have decided to continue this nationwide celebration of Polish cinema Institutions and organisations from across Poland have joined the 50 for 51 project. We will be visiting 14 regions, the coast, the mountains, towns and villages. We’ll be in Sulęczyno, Lubomierz, Piwniczna-Zdrój, Kraśniczyn, Pszczew and Darłowo Katowice, Kraków, Elbląg, Poznań, Lublin, Szczecin, Warsaw, Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot will each present their own versions of the project. A total of 33 towns and villages.

Last year, the 50 the 50 review was part of our anniversary programme, but Polish cinema does not need a special occasion for us to share it and enjoy it. I believe we’re in for a fascinating journey – films, meetings, stories and a unique opportunity to see ourselves reflected in them, and perhaps learn something about ourselves, says Joanna Łapińska, Artistic Director of the PFF.

We are keen to make the project accessible to as wide an audience as possible. Thanks to our collaboration with the Kino Dostępne Foundation, we will be providing our Partners with an up-to-date list of films featuring audio description. You are welcome to use these titles during your events.  The audio description tracks will be made available via a dedicated app from the Kino Dostępne Foundation, emphasises Agata Kozierańska-Burda, Director of the PFF.

Below is a map showing the towns where events in the 50 for 51 series will take place by the end of February 2027. To see the name of the town, hover your cursor over the selected point on the map. To view a list of organisations and events in a specific town, click on the relevant item.

Details of the individual reviews will be available on the websites of the partner institutions.
