Hugh Welchman

Director, screenwriter, producer. He graduated from Oxford University and the National Film and Television School. Crow Stone,
a graduation film he produced, won the Cinéfondation prize at Cannes IFF. He began his career producing short films for Monty Python, then went on to set up a film studio BreakThru Films. In 2008 he received the Academy Award for the studio’s first big production Peter and the Wolf. The film won more awards, including the Annecy Cristal and Rose d’Or. His next production, Magic Piano, had its premiere in Beijing’s Forgotten City with the participation of pianist Lang Lang and was later screened at over
thirty concert venues around the world
