Saturday at the 44th PFF
The last day of the 44th Polish Film Festival has come. At the evening ceremony on Saturday, 21st September 2019, we will find out who receives the Golden and Silver Lions.
Earlier on the same day, from early morning till late afternoon, the audience can still watch all 44th PFF Main Competition films as well as a few titles from Polish Film Panorama, an out-of-competition section. Films keep screening in Helios Cinema, Gdynia Film Centre, New and Chamber Stage of the Musical Theatre and other Festival objects.
Polish Filmmakers Association Forum
On Saturday, at noon, commences the Polish Filmmakers Association Forum. Immediately after its end, around 2.00 p.m., PFA would like to invite journalists for a press briefing at Mercure Gdynia Centre.
Red Carpet and Closing Ceremony
Autograph hunters have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Shortly before 6.00 p.m. on Saturday, film stars, filmmakers and producers of competing films will walk on the Red Carpet leading from Mercure Gdynia Centre straight to the main entrance of the Musical Theatre. The Closing Ceremony of the 44th PFF starts at 7.00 p.m. sharp at the Large Stage of the Musical Theatre.
During the ceremony, we will learn the names of the winners of the most important awards of the PFF – Golden and Silver Lions – as well as recipients of numerous individual awards. The decision has been made by the Jury comprised of Maciej Wojtyszko (Chairperson), Ewa Braun, Bożena Dykiel, Piotr Dzięcioł, Paweł Laskowski, Ilona Łepkowska, Maria Sadowska, Nikodem Wołk-Łaniewski and Jerzy Zieliński.
By invitation only. The Ceremony will be broadcast live by TVP Kultura.
You can watch the Closing Ceremony online. The link available HERE will be active on Saturday from 7.00 p.m.
For the media
Photo reporters interested in documenting the Red Carpet and Closing Ceremony have to notify the Press Office personally or send a message via e-mail: biuroprasowe@festiwalgdynia.pl.
As in previous years, the first entry to the Ceremony with camera equipment (standing space in the designated area of the amphitheatre) will be granted to co-organisers and media patrons and sponsors.
During the Closing Ceremony produced by Telewizja Polska, recording equipment is not allowed in the audience of the Large Stage of the Musical Theatre. Both Opening and Closing Ceremony require an evening dress.
Broadcast at the New Stage
In order to cater to journalists willing to watch the Closing Ceremony, we plan to transmit the event at the New Stage of the Musical Theatre. There, in an informal vibe, you can report live working on a laptop or making important calls to your office.

The last day of Festival screenings in Grunwaldzki Square features Young Cinema hosted by Kino Polska. We will show the following films: A Day Like Today directed by Magda Strzyżyńska, graduate of the Gdynia Film School – the short is her graduation film, Anna Zamecka’s Communion – co-produced by Wajda School, the film won the 2017 European Film Award, and Sophie’s Ordinary Life directed by Dominika Gnatek – recipient of Lucjan Bokiniec Award for Best Film in the Short Film Competition at the 43rd PFF.
