A Sort of Family

38-year-old Malena is a middle-class doctor in Buenos Aires who has lost a child recently. After this traumatic event, she sets off on a journey to adopt a newborn baby from a poor family in northern Argentina. On her way, Malena feels uncertain and morally conflicted. How far can she go to start a family she dreams of?

Diego Lerman reżyser, scenarzysta, producent. Urodził się w Buenos Aires w 1976 roku. Studiował projektowanie obrazu i dźwięku na Uniwersytecie w Buenos Aires oraz dramaturgię w Miejskiej Szkole Sztuki Dramatycznej. Jest jednym z filmowców, których twórczość na początku 2000 roku zyskała nazwę nowego kina argentyńskiego. Do tej pory wyreżyserował cztery filmy pełnometrażowe, których jest także producentem i współautorem scenariusza. Filmy te zostały docenione i nagrodzone na największych światowych festiwalach, a ich komercyjne premiery miały miejsce nie tylko w Ameryce Południowej, ale także w Europie, Ameryce Północnej i Azji.

Director, screenwriter and producer. Born in Buenos Aires in 1976. Studied Picture and Sound Design at the University of Buenos Aires and Drama at the Municipal School of Dramatic Arts. One of the filmmakers whose works were classified as New Argentine Cinema in early 2000. Since then, Lerman co-wrote, produced and directed four feature films acclaimed and awarded at the biggest festivals in the world; all premiered commercially not only in South America but also in Europe, North America and Asia.
