Marcin Wrona
Director and screenwriter. He held a PhD in film arts. He graduated in directing from the University of Silesia and the Wajda School. He had lectured at the Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia and at the Krakow Film School. He has also directed for theater and television. His debut, ‘My Blood’, based on a screenplay that won the Hartley-Merrill competition, premiered at the Rome Film Festival. The film has screened at numerous festivals, winning awards including Koszalin, Nicosia (Cyprus), and Avanca (Portugal). ‘The Christening’ had its European premiere in San Sebastian, its world premiere in Toronto, and its Polish premiere at the Warsaw Film Festival. In Gdynia, it won Silver Lions and acting awards (jointly for Wojciech Zeliński and Tomasz Schuchardt), for editing, and the Polish Film Festival (PF KKF) Don Quixote Award. He also won awards at Mons Love in Belgium, at Febiofest in Prague, at OFF Plus Camera in Krakow, in Reykjavik (Iceland), and in Ploiesti (Romania). He died tragically in 2015 during the 40th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.
