Mara Tamkovich

Mara Tamkovich is a Polish-Belarussian director and screenwriter. She studied Jour- nalism at the University of Warsaw, and Film Direction at the Warsaw Film School and Wajda School. For almost ten years she worked as a journalist for independent Belarussian TV and radio stations broadcasting from Poland. As a filmmaker, she focuses on socially engaged topics with a deep connection to real life. Her short films were presented at festivals in Poland and abroad, and received awards at e.g. Chicago IFF, Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, and Minsk IFF and FEST – New Directions | New Films Festival in Espinho. She is a member of the Polish Filmmakers Association and the Belarussian Independent Film Academy.
