Film for Climate competition at the 49th PFF

The Regional Representation of the European Commission in Poland, the Film for Climate Initiative, the 49th Polish Film Festival, and the National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers join forces to build environmental awareness among filmmakers in the Film for Climate Competition.

The objective of the Competition is to appreciate he filmmakers who introduce sustainable and environmentally-friendly practices promoted by the European Commission and the Film for Climate Initiative in the manifesto titled “MANIFESTO FOR SUSTAINABLE FILMING – FILM FOR CLIMATE”

Filmmakers who have qualified for the Main Competition, the Perspectives Competition, and the Short Film Competition at the 49th Polish Film Festival can compete for the award for the most environmentally neutral film production in two categories: Feature Film and Short Film. The winners in both categories will receive statues – designed by Dr. Renata Wites-Krzyżanowska, inspired by the idea of circularity – cash prizes of PLN 15,000 each, and an invitation to participate in a study visit organised by the European Commission.

Competition entries can be submitted until the end of the day on 16th September 2024, via the form on the website https://konkurs.fdk.euin.pl.

The European Commission actively supports efforts to create a climate-neutral audiovisual sector both in Poland and throughout the European Union. The Regional Representation of the European Commission was a partner of the National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers in organising the first Green Audiovisual Production Lab. In 2024, together with the Film for Climate Initiative, it conducted an informational campaign featuring Maciej Musiałowski.
