Films competing at the 48th Polish Film Festival

Over two months before the Festival, we are happy to announce the list of films qualified for the Main Competition of the 48th Polish Film Festival in Gdynia! We also reveal titles selected for the Short Film Competition and Microbudget Film Competition.

As many as 16 films have been qualified for the Main Competition. Among them there are 2 full-length directing debuts and 4 director’s second films.

In accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the 48th PFF, films for the Main Competition have been selected by the Artistic Director of the Festival, Joanna Łapińska, and the Selection Team appointed by her (advisory body in the composition of: film expert Anita Skwara, film critic Krzysztof Kwiatkowski and film director Janusz Zaorski) and the Organising Committee.

As Joanna Łapińska says: “This year, we have a record number of applications — nearly 60 films applied for admission to the Main Competition. Selecting no more than 16 titles was obviously not an easy task for us. I really regret some of the films that were rejected at the last stage of selection. On the other hand, we are delighted by the variety of genres and styles. Polish cinema can be really surpising today. This is well reflected by this year’s Main Competition”.
