Films from Gdynia at the 49th PFF

The Films from Gdynia section is to cherish mutual relations between the Tenth Muse and the City hosting the Festival. This out-of-competition section comprises titles distinguished by a local element: they either are about Gdynia and its people, or are produced by local producers or directed by someone from Gdynia.

This year’s Films from Gdynia section includes 4 titles: Green Ink by Paweł Wyszomirski about a rebellious student who gets arrested by the police for using a firearm at the university and receives one last chance from her supervisor; additionally the film recalls a legendary professor from Gdańsk University of Technology – Marianna Sankiewicz; My Uncle Leszek by Maciej Miller – a study of a son’s extraordinary love for his dying mother and the psychological cost he pays for sacrificing his life for her; When F***ing Spring is in the Air by Danyael Sugawara about a rebellious seventeen-year-old Euro-orphan, who is left penniless after her grandmother passes away and she decides to claim the money she is entitled to from her biological parents. In this road trip, she discovers new family members and confronts all the carefully buried family secrets; and Krystyna Łubieńska. The Remembrance – a story of one of the most colourful actresses of the Polish Riviera, who played over two hundred roles in the fifty years of her artistic activity.

Films From Gdynia”, a part of the Festival for many years now, still get an audience. I hope that this gallery of both fiction and non-fiction characters and interesting narratives will engage you this time as well – says Director of the Festival Leszek Kopeć.
