Claire Denis

Born on 21st April 1946 in Paris. Graduate of the French film school Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinématographiques. In 1987, she wrote and directed her debut, Chocolat. The film was nominated for Palm d’Or and César Award. In 1996, Denis received the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival for Nénette and Boni. Then came Beau Travail, Trouble Every Day, Vendredi soir, 35 Shots of Rum, White Material, and Bastards – a film presented in Un Certain Regard at Festival du Cannes in 2013. Four years later, Denis returned to Cannes with Let the Sunshine In.
