Andrzej Wajda

Film and theatre director, screenwriter and production designer. Honorary Academy Award winner. He debuted in 1954 with the film A Generation, a story following the fates of young people from Warsaw suburbs during the Nazi occupation. His Canal (1956) and Ashes and Diamonds (1958) started a famous trend called the Polish Film School and made him one of the most significant directors of the new generation in Europe. Died on 9th October 2016.
