Magdalena Łazarkiewicz

Magdalena Łazarkiewicz is a director, screenwriter and lecturer at the Warsaw Film School. She graduated in Culture Studies from the University of Wrocław and in Directing from Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Faculty of the University of Silesia in Katowice. After a series of documentaries made with the Documentary Film Production Company, she made her debut with a television film By Touch (under the artistic supervision of Krzysztof Kieślowski). She directed feature films (e.g. The Last Schoolbell, Back Home, Kaytek the Wizard), series and several theatre plays, over a dozen TV plays and a few TV programme series. She won awards such as the Grand Prix at the 1986 Femmes Film Festival in Creteil, the Great Amber award at the 1989 Koszalin Debut Film Festival Young and Film, the Special Award of the Jury at the 1992 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, the Golden Grape at the 2015 Lubuskie Film Summer in Łagów, the Special Award of the Jury at the 2018 Polish Film Festival in America, Chicago.
