Friend of the Jolly Devil

A screen adaptation of a novel by Kornel Makuszyński. The inhabitants of
the Land of Light have been fighting the Spirit of Darkness for ages.
The old, wise and good Witalis is the only person who managed to get out
of his maze. When Witalis suddenly loses sight, his ward, Janek, sets
out to reach the kingdom of the Spirit of Darkness to fight against him
and bring back Witalis’s vision. On this dangerous quest he enjoys the
company of a devil he met on the way, named Piszczałka.
