Home Shopping
Oskar Dawicki
2007, 0 h 8 minIn “Home Shopping”, the artist uses a strategy based on calling into question the field of art and the status of the artist by ruthlessly entangling them into the reality of commerce and advertisement, which bears the features of a peculiar desacralisation of the art. Taking up the form of home shopping, whose essence is a suggestive show of a range of advantages of a given product, the artist offers for sale a painting by Rafał Bujnowski with a bargain price. The reference to the area of promotion and advertisement opens the field of reflection upon the status of the work of art and the artist as well as poses an ironic commentary on the topic of the art market.
