The Sleeplessness of Jutka

Seven-year-old Jutka thinks she has come to Łódź only for holidays, although the reality is that she is stuck in the ghetto with her grandfather and aunt. The girl does not understand why she cannot run freely around the city and play with other children and does not know where her parents have gone. Her grandfather tries to explain the world to her by comparing it to the story of the Minotaur. Łódź becomes an ancient labyrinth and the Nazis become a mythical monster. The film is a subtle combination of the dramatic events of the Second World War and Greek mythology.
