Skiing Scenes with Franz Klammer

The film features Franz Klammer, an accomplished Austrian skier, dubbed by many the ‘king of skis’. The authors depict the loneliness of this ‘successful man’, who currently does not participate in any sports competitions, in a somewhat ironic and, at times, grotesque manner. The viewer is surprised by numerous intriguing cinematographic solutions, which accentuate the emotional and aesthetic qualities of the film.

The Gal and the Fiend

The story was based on a folk ballad and morality tale. To the accompaniment of a countryside band, we follow the fate of Kasia, a debauched girl taken to hell for her unholy deeds. The staging, imagery and scenery resemble a Nativity play and aim to instruct and warn the viewer about the consequences of ‘bad behaviour’.

One day, however, he is relegated to working in the hotel toilet. Film from the collection of the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Murnau-Stiftung (www.murnau-stiftung.de) in Wiesbaden.

Despite his objections, he ends up on a training ground that is supposed...

Variable Interest Rate

A seemingly ordinary event, signing a mortgage contract with a bank, becomes a pretext for a fascinating game played between two characters: a Banker and his female Client. The man knows her: she teaches his daughter. Unexpectedly, their conversation deviates far from the usual contract signing procedure. The drama of the meeting stems from Banker’s fight for the Client’s ‘soul’. His position as a representative of a powerful system is...

War Song

The film is based on a narrative about war improvised by a small boy. A seemingly child’s play contains echoes of a real war, battle struggles and images of defeat. It is an expressive children’s poem with an anti-war message.
