The older one, Gerda, dreamed of a grand opening. The younger one, Gaja, floundered. She refused to live at the expense of other creatures and was determined to do whatever it took to stop the opening, which had attracted local business sharks and big fish.

Marcel returns to his hometown to pick up his dying mother, Julia, from hospital. To his surprise, she mysteriously regains her strength. Her recovery awakens long-lost memories. When Julia learns that Marcel is expecting a child of his own, fear of abandonment takes hold. Soon, she begins to grow younger.
