10th April 2010, the government plane Tupolev 154 on board with the President of the Republic of Poland, Lech Kaczyński, and accompanying members of the official delegation headed for Katyn, crashes in Smolensk. All passengers die instantly. The tragedy stirs a commotion. Nina (Beata Fido), a journalist with a large commercial TV station, is trying to get to know the cause of the catastrophe. Some traces lead to Lech Kaczyński’s dramatic journey to war-stricken Georgia aimed at stopping the invasion of Russian troops on Tbilisi in August 2008. With every hour of her journalist investigation Nina becomes convinced that the truth is much more complex than one might suspect.

The Artists

An original eight-part TV series from the theatre creators Monika Strzępka and Paweł Demirski, produced by Telewizja Polska for 250th anniversary of the public theatre in Poland. The project was co-financed by the National Audiovisual Institute supervised by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. A star cast of both theatre and film Polish actors of all generations appear on screen.
