Janusz Kijowski
Film, theatre and opera director, screenwriter, actor, film critic and producer. Born in 1948 in Szczecin. Graduated from History at the University of Warsaw and from the Film and TV Direction Department of the Lodz Film School. As a student, he wrote reviews for “Kultura” weekly magazine. The director of, i.a. Teatr im. Jaracza in Olsztyn, the Grand Theatre-National Opera in Warsaw and Teatr TV. Every film he directed he wrote himself. Co-producer of Adek Drabiński’s “A Trap”, Mariusz Front’s “Double Portrait”, his own “Chameleon”, Maciej Pieprzyca’s “Inferno” and Dariusz Gajewski’s “Warsaw”. Awarded “The Golden Lions” for the best producer of the film “Warsaw” at the 28th Polish Film Festival in 2003. The lecturer at Institut National Superieur des Arts du Spectacle in Brussels and Lodz Film School. Between 1979-81, the chairman of Polish Filmmakers Association Young Filmmakers’ Circle. Between 1988-89, the chairman of the Karol Irzykowski Film Studio. Since 2002, the Vice President of the Federation of European Film Directors FERA. The Vice President of the Polish Filmmaker’s Association. The member of Polish Film Institute.
