Who’s gonna be the Polish Shrek? Five candidates
Shrek is a cult series of animated films produced by American Dream Works studio. The premiere of the fifth part of the full-length film is scheduled for 1st July 2026. In the Polish language version the leading roles – the title Shrek and the donkey – were dubbed perfectly by Zbigniew Zamachowski and Jerzy Stuhr.
Jerzy Stuhr passed away this year. Who will take his place? We’ve asked artificial intelligence to answer this question. GPTchat found five candidates.
Cezary Pazura – his dynamic and funny style of voice makes him a perfect candidate for dubbing comedy figures. His energy and sense of humour would fit the vigorous nature of the donkey.
Tomasz Karolak – he’s got charismatic voice and is known for his roles in comedies, which could give the figure some nonchalance and charm.
Borys Szyc – his talent for comedy and dubbing flexibility could reflect perfectly the donkey’s sense of humour and responsiveness.
Maciej Stuhr – he’s got a wealth of experience in dubbing (eg. Ice Age) and his ability to combine comedy with emotional depth could make the donkey even more funny and charming.
Marcin Dorociński – although he is associated more with dramatic roles, he’s got great actor’s intuition and his low, charismatic voice could bring some interesting contrast and new interpretation of the donkey, making his tone more ironic.
Each of these actors could bring something special to this iconic protagonist!
