Exhibitions presented at the 37th Gdynia Film Festival
JERZY HOFFMAN. CINEMA WITH HISTORY IN THE BACKGROUND.

On 80th birthday anniversary of Jerzy Hoffman the Film Museum in Łódź in co-operation with “Zodiak” Jerzy Hoffman Film Production Film Studio and the National Film Archive in Warsaw has prepared a monographic exhibition devoted to the works of one of the most outstanding filmmakers of the Polish cinema. The exhibition presents his extensive artistic oeuvre, starting with his first documentary and feature films made in co-operation with Edward Skórzewski through to the great film productions, such as “Colonel Wolodyjowski”, “The Deluge”, “With Fire and Sword” and “Battle of Warsaw 1920”.

JERZY KAWALEROWICZ. THE PAINTER OF THE TENTH MUSE.

The Film Museum in Łódź would like to commemorate and pay tribute to the Director. This exhibition, accompanied by a multimedia presentation comprising interviews with actors, collaborators, and friends of Jerzy Kawalerowicz, is a biographical retrospective exhibition devoted to one of the most outstanding Polish filmmakers, the author of well-known film adaptations of “Pharaoh”, “The Inn”, “Mother Joan of the Angels” and “Quo Vadis”, the winner of numerous prestigious film awards, among others in Cannes, Venice and Berlin, the co-founder of the Polish Filmmakers Association and the manager of “Kadr” of many years’ standing.

ANDRZEJ DUDZIŃSKI’S CINEMA – POSTERS OF FILMS THAT WEREN’T THERE

An exhibition unlike any other, as it presents posters of films that have never been made. Some are serious, others totally crazy – their author is a graphic artist renowned in Poland and in the world. Since 2007 his posters have been published in “Film” monthly. The opening of the exhibition on Tuesday, 8th May at high noon. The exhibition has been prepared in co-operation with Mościce Cultural Centre and the City Gallery in Tarnów.

THE EXHIBITION OF HENRYK PIETKIEWICZ’S PHOTOGRAPHS “PORTRAITS”

An exhibition showing photo portraits of people associated with Polish cinematography. The author presents the people photographed in a characteristic style using close shots and focusing on emotions.

As every year Gdynia Film Festival sends a film smile to children. Marcin Władyka, the author of this year’s poster, has created its special smiling version on which “smiling autographs” of the guests of 37th GFF will be collected. The smiles will be collected and presented throughout the festival by the creator of the World Smile Archive, Marek Wysoczyński. Apart from that, the small patients of the city hospital in Gdynia will draw smiles together with the Mayor of the City of Gdynia, Wojciech Szczurek and… hush, let it remain a surprise for the children who from the world of Polish film is going to visit the hospital.
