Let’s talk about the future of the Festival in Gdynia!

Polish Filmmakers Association Forum
Already on the nearest Saturday, 21 September at 12.00 the Polish Filmmakers Association Forum will be held. This is one of the most important events during the 44.
Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. The largest organisation of film professionals invites to discuss the future of the Festival in Gdynia. The catchphrase of this meeting is Our Festival.

The commotion around the competition selection has raised concern among the entire film community. After the public appeal of President Jacek Bromski and arguments of other organisations within our community, the Secretary of Culture and National Heritage accepted the decision to include the three initially rejected titles. An animated discussion started concerning the future and organisation of the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia.

The Polish Filmmakers Association has initiated the debate on the development prospects for the Polish Film Festival. – Gdynia is the best place to talk about the future of the most important event presenting the Polish cinematography. It is a very optimistic symptom that more and more creators and industry organisations are engaged in this discussion and offer their visions of the Festival here and now – in the cinematographic Gdynia – says Jacek Bromski, the president of the Polish Filmmakers Association.

According to the president of PFA, the key issues which call for discussion are among other things: the duration of the Festival, the number of films accepted to the main competition, the selection mode thereof and obtaining new sources of funding.
– The planned for Saturday Polish Filmmakers Association Forum will be one of the most important community meetings in years. We will summarize all the ideas and surely come up with the new ones. We will swap arguments and debate fiercely but let’s keep in mind one thing: this is our Festival. The Festival of Polish Filmmakers. Everyone who would like to influence its shape in a constructive way is welcome to join the Forum – Jacek Bromski underscores.

Some of the guests invited to the PFA Forum are Leszek Kopeć, Wojciech Marczewski, Radosław Śmigulski, Paweł Lewandowski, Agnieszka Odorowicz and Krzysztof Zanussi.
