She studied Culture Studies at the University of Wrocław. In the years 1977-1978 she was the literary manager of Stefan Jaracz Theatre in Olsztyn. In 1982 she graduated from the Radio and Television Faculty of the University of Silesia in Katowice. In the 2005/2006 season she was the artistic director of Teatr Nowy PRAGA. Since 2006 she has been lecturing at the Warsaw Film School, since 2012 – at the Multi Art Academy in Cracow. She makes documentary and feature films. She also directed popular series (“Ekipa”, original project “Into Deep Water”) and numerous theatre plays and Television Theatre plays, as well. Her many awarded films include, among others, “Into Deep Water” series (Berlin, Prix Europa 2013 – Special Award; Turin, Prix Italia 2013; Chicago, Hugo TV Award 2012), “Drugi brzeg” (Plovdiv, International TV Theatre Festival – directing award 1997), “White Marriage” (Film Critics Club Award SDP Syrenka Warszawska 1993), “Departure” (Gdynia, Polish Film Festival 1992 – Special Award of the Jury), “The Last Schoolbell” (Poznań, Children’s Film Festival 1989 – Poznańskie Koziołki; Koszalin “Young and Film” Festival 1989 – “Walka Młodych” editorial board’s award), “By Touch” (Award of the Chairman of the Radio and TV Committee 1987, Stanisław Wyspiański Artistic Award for the Young 1986).
