Cristian Mungiu
Born in 1968 in Iaşi , Romania. After studying English literature at the University of Iaşi , he enrolled at the University of Film in Bucharest to study film directing . He worked for a few years as a teacher and as a press, radio and television journalist until 1994. During his studies he worked as director’s assistant at foreign productions shot in Romania. After graduating in 1998, Mungiu made several short films . In 2002, he debuted with his first feature film Occident ” at the film review Director’s Fortnight in Cannes. “ Occident” won prizes in several film festivals . In 2003 Cristian Mungiu co-founded Mobra Films.
