Dawid Nickel

Born in 1988 in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Studied at the Faculty of Radio and Television at the University of Silesia in Katowice and Wajda School. Collaborated with Małgorzata Szumowska (Body and Mug). In his art, he’s drawn to characters whose image in Poland is filtered through stereotypes related to sexual orientation or low social class. Nickel’s debut Filipka is a documentary about his non-heteronormative, gender-fluid friend. The film premiered this year at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw.
