Maciej Bochniak
Director. Born 1984, comes from Kraków. Member of the Directors Guild of Poland. He made his debut in 2011 with a short documentary Reception. Co-author of the feature film The Room, which – apart from many other awards – won the title of the best independent film at the 2012 Gdynia Film Festival. Director of the box-office hit Disco Polo for which he won Janusz ‘Kuba’ Morgenstern “Perspektywa” Award for the most promising debut. Author of high-profile documentaries One Billion Happy People and Ethiopiques – Revolt of the Soul (both for HBO). His second feature film, Magnesium, won as many as four awards at the 2020 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, including the Golden Claw, and was nominated for four Eagle awards, winning in two of the categories. He has recently wrapped up shooting the third season of the Polish edition of The Office series.
