From Bed Thou Arose
Bartek Konopka
2014, 0 h 25 minIt is a 25-min feature summarising in 20 scenes the landmark events of our newest history from the angle of… the bed. The film is an absurd, full of humour parable in a spirit of Tadeusz Różewicz and Michel Gondra, describing the life of a furniture carpenter who sets up his own small business after the fall of communism. He begins with a camp bed which he uses to for trading near a block of flats, then he makes his own beds, exposing himself to the mafia, relishing freedom and capitalism and, at last, paying a price for that in his private life.
Michał Ogórek is the co-author of the screenplay (similarly as with “Królik po berlińsku”). As befits a compilation of the 90. and 2000, one of the roles features the very… professor Leszek Balcerowicz.
