A Woman’s Decision
Marta Siemińska, a woman in her thirties, is an accountant. Up to her ears in a quarterly balance sheet report, she discovers some serious misappropriation that leads to an internal investigation. Soon afterwards, Marta bumps into Jacek, a university classmate. Her monotonous life – a routine of daily rituals – slowly begins to change. The woman balances the books of her marriage, and it doesn’t look good: her husband comes out boring. The renewed acquaintance with Jacek turns into an affair.

History of Sin
The third adaptation (previous ones from 1911 and 1933) of one of the
most popular and certainly most controversial novels written by Stefan
Żeromski. Meticulously precise in historical details and visually
stunning, the film is faithful to its literary original – a tragic story
about beautiful and sinful Ewa Pobratymska pushed by love to the bottom
of humiliation. “[…] ‘The story of sin’ is first of all a story of love
and love is a part of human existence”, said the director in an
interview. “The adaptation of this book was a perfect pretext to make a
popular film – a melodrama that would move people just like the book
used to move its readers back then.”
