Karolina Bielawska graduated in Directing from the Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Faculty of the University of Silesia in Katowice and from Wajda School in Warsaw. She trained under the guidance of outstanding Polish filmmakers such as Andrzej Wajda and Edward Żebrowski. Bielawska directed short feature films and documentaries. Her film Call Me Marianna won twenty-seven awards at festivals in Poland and abroad, incl. in Kraków, Locarno, Barcelona, Tel Aviv, Los Angeles and Chicago. She won the 2016 Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award. She was nominated for the 2015 “Polityka” Passport in the film category and for the 2017 Eagle Awards.
