Agnieszka Holland graduated from FAMU in Prague. She began her career alongside Andrzej Wajda and Krzysztof Zanussi and moved on to win such prestigious awards as the Golden Globe, the Golden Lion, BAFTA, and Emmy. She has been nominated for the Academy Award three times and received the Platinum Lions for lifetime achievement at the 2021 Polish Film Festival in Gdynia. Holland has directed over thirty feature and television films and several episodes of television series made in Poland (Ekipa, 1983) and in the US (The Wire, Treme, The Killing, House of Cards), as well as the mini-series Burning Bush and Rosemary’s Baby. She writes or co-writes screenplays for her own films and those made by other directors. Her latest films were selected for the Berlin IFF, won numerous festival awards, and are distributed worldwide. Between 2021 and 2024, she was the President of the European Film Academy.
