Jan Holoubek is a cinematographer, director and screenwriter. He was born in 1978 in Warsaw. In 2001 he graduated from the Łódź Film School from the Direction of Photography Department. He is the director of photography for numerous film, television and advertising productions. In 2018 The Mire series became his gateway to directing big feature productions. His cinema feature debut, 25 Years of Innocence, won over thirty awards in Poland and around the world, incl. seven Eagle awards in 2021 and Best Debut awards at the 2020 Tallin IFF, 2020 International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage in Toruń, and 2020 PFF in Gdynia. In 2022, a show he directed titled High Water became a global blockbuster on Netflix, ranking first among the most watched non-English series in the world within two weeks after its release.
