Jan Komasa is a director, screenwriter and producer. He won the Polish Film Academy awards in the Best Director and Discovery of the Year categories. His films had their premieres and were awarded at the most important international film festivals, incl. Cannes, Venice, Berlin and Los Angeles. His 2020 Academy Award nomination in the Best International Film category and over forty festival awards for Corpus Christi placed him among the most highly acclaimed and recognised filmmakers in the world. His next film, The Hater, was awarded at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival in New York in the Best International Feature Film category. In 2024 he made his English language debut film Anniversary. He is a lecturer at the Łódź Film School, a Polish Film Institute expert and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
