David Ondříček

David Ondříček is a director, screenwriter and producer, one of the most eminent post-revolution Czech directors. He made his debut in 1996 with Whisper. His next project, Loners, won the Audience Award at the 2000 Warsaw Film Festival, while In the Shadow was the Czech Republic’s nominee for the Academy Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category. In 2013 Variety granted the filmmaker a 10 Directors to Watch award, given to the most outstanding directors of the previous year. Ondříček worked as an executive producer on Petr Zelenka’s new film Lost in Munich and Sean Ellis’s Anthropoid. His latest film, Zátopek, had its premiere as the opening film at the 2021 Karlovy Vary IFF and won the Audience Award. Ondříček is a member of the European Film Academy and of the presidium of the Czech Film and Television Academy.
