Registration for the Gdynia Story workshops is now open!
On 2nd September at 12.00, we’ll be opening applications for the Gdynia Story workshops – a new addition to the Gdynia Industry programme. The initiative was launched by Wojciech Smarzowski, who will lead the sessions alongside Agnieszka Smoczyńska, Kordian Kądziela and Kuba Rużyłło. Gdynia Story is aimed at young screenwriters and directors.

- Wednesday, 24th September 2026, 1.30 p.m.–3:30 p.m. – a workshop with Wojciech Smarzowski based on the film HOME SWEET HOME
- Wednesday, 24th September, 4.00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.– a workshop with Kordian Kądziela and Kuba Rużyłło based on an episode of the TV series 1670
- Thursday, 25th 2026, 1.00 p.m.–3.00 p.m.– a workshop with Agnieszka Smoczyńska based on the film THE SILENT TWINS
Terms and conditions of participation
- payment of PLN 200 upon being selected for Gdynia Story. This amount will be refunded once participation in all three parts of Gdynia Story has been confirmed;
- becoming familiar with the script, films and TV series, which participants will receive from the Organiser once they have been selected for the workshop and have signed a confidentiality agreement regarding the materials provided.
Application form will be available on Wednesday 2nd September 2026 at 12.00.
Gdynia Story is a new Festival initiative conceived by Wojciech Smarzowski. A project aimed at young screenwriters and directors, offering workshop-based sessions led by experienced filmmakers who analyse their own films together with the participants. The starting point will be the final version of the screenplay and the film made based on it. Gdynia Story will thus focus on the process of “translating” the screenplay into cinematic language, working on set, the contribution of actors, and shaping cinematic reality.
The main partner of the initiative is the streaming service Netflix.
