The tragic life of five Warsaw poets who died during the World War II: Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński, Tadeusz Gajcy, Zdzisław Stroiński, Andrzej Trzebiński and Wacław Bojarski. The film includes the photos from the occupation period and the Warsaw Uprising, stagings of authentic war and post-war events and the pictures of modern capital. The story is narrated by Witold Zalewski, a soldier from Gajcy and Stroiński’s division. The first night of the Uprising, he read Gajcy’s diary left in an abandoned hideout in Nowy Świat. Soon, both the diary and the tenement house burnt.
