In the gloomy, unfriendly city of Bridgetown a dancer disappears. Indolence of the local police makes her sister Claudia hire a private eye. The methods applied by the grouchy and hostile Bruce Connor cannot be described as subtle. During the investigation, both his enemies and former friends cross his path.
