The absurdities of the early 1970s (“the age of Edward Gierek”)
presented in a funny manner. Another Monday in Warsaw: German measles in
a kindergarten, shortage in a marriage bureau – one foreigner is
missing but there are plenty of shy girls full of complexes. A visitor
from the country desperately seeks spare parts for his combine harvester
but suddenly the shops offer toilet paper so everyone walks around the
city laden with the paper, showing it like hunter’s trophies. Lifts
break down and a new elementary school is to open. An absurdity follows
an absurdity but ultimately all the problems are solved. Somehow...
