Touching the Icon – Polish Film Festival

An ethnographer originating from Kashubia comes back to her home region to explore folk religion. She knows her well from home, but in adult life, she has cut herself off from her. Then, she meets young Kashubians motivated to save the tradition of bowing and dancing with holy paintings. They’re preparing to hold a feretron weighing over 100kg on their shoulders for the pilgrimage. Physical weakness and the necessity to learn the tradition from YouTube make them realise they might have bitten more than they can chew.
