The world is a mysterious place when seen through the eyes of an animal. EO, a grey donkey with melancholic eyes, meets good and bad people on his life’s path, experiences joy and pain, endures the wheel of fortune randomly turn his luck into disaster and his despair into unexpected bliss. But not even for a moment does he lose his innocence.
This latest work by Jerzy Skolimowski is a Polish-Italian co-production inspired by Robert Bresson’s Au hasard Balthazar (1966). Critically acclaimed, EO won multiple awards, including the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival (2022), the European Film Award for European Original Score (2022), six Polish Film Awards (2023), a Golden Lions nomination at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia (2022), and an Oscar nomination for International Feature Film (2023).
