Trains

A train compartment is a place where a person is temporarily out of the context of everyday life. For a few hours or a few days, they find themselves in a new social environment, their life governed by the timetable. There is something beautiful and magical about travelling by train, but it can also be very painful. Sometimes the journey is accompanied by hope, or sometimes there is no hope at all. The joy of travelling becomes a curse, and tears of joy mix with the pain of despair.
