Frania is thirteen years old and feels lonely and misunderstood by her peers and her busy parents, even though she has everything she needs. On her birthday, while travelling by car with her mum, they accidentally hit a stray dog. Frania immediately rushes to its aid, names him Smartie, and takes him to the vet. It turns out that Smartie needs treatment and should be taken to a shelter. When Frania’s mum firmly objects to adopting him, the girl takes matters into her own hands and sneaks him out of the shelter. Aided by a friend and her friend’s older brother, Frania hides from her parents and the shelter staff, who are hot on her trail. She starts posting videos featuring Smartie, who quickly gains popularity and becomes an internet sensation. All this commotion forces Frania’s parents to work together, brings them closer, and helps them rebuild their family bonds.
