10-year-old Olaf lives in a world where renting family members and friends is a common practice. For a certain price, everyone can custom-make their perfect illusion of happiness. When Rent a Life Company organises casting in Olaf’s school, the boy jumps at a chance to become a friend at a wealthy girl’s birthday party. Soon, he realises that the show goes on at a high cost.
