Mates

The film’s plot is located in Chełmno in the 50s. In this old and at the same time beautiful town, the fates of the main protagonists – Maniek and Stasiek – intertwine. Not only do the boys attend the same class but they also live in the same tenement. Hence, it would seem that intimate friendship typical of school colleagues and neighbours should exist between the protagonists. However, it is not so – Maniek, together with Olek, often bully Staś, calling him a loser. This unfair judgement makes the boy become withdrawn. Only because of a coincidence does this very unpleasant situation change.
